Tamera Receives the 2024 National Environmental Prize from Quercus
We are thrilled and honored to announce that Tamera has been awarded the 2024 National Environmental Prize from Quercus – Associação Nacional de Conservação da Natureza. This esteemed recognition from Quercus, one of Portugal’s foremost environmental organizations, celebrates the dedication and impact of our work in ecological resilience, sustainable practices, and community-centered environmental education.
By Fátima Teixeira, October 31, 2024
Founded in 1985, Quercus has been a leading force in Portugal’s environmental movement for nearly four decades. Named after the Latin word for oak trees—a symbol of Portugal’s rich yet endangered natural heritage—Quercus is a nonpartisan, independent NGO that champions nature conservation and sustainable resource management. The organization works across an impressive range of environmental issues, including biodiversity, water conservation, renewable energy, and climate action. Its regional branches and educational outreach help empower communities across the nation, from mainland Portugal to the Azores and Madeira, to engage in local environmental advocacy.
Receiving this award from Quercus holds special significance for us at Tamera. As an organization that shares Quercus’ commitment to sustainable development and ecological preservation, we are honored to be recognized alongside such a respected name in environmental conservation. This recognition inspires us to continue our mission of exploring, practicing, and sharing regenerative living methods to help build a sustainable future.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Quercus for this award and for their invaluable contributions to environmental awareness and action in Portugal and beyond. This accolade encourages us to deepen our commitment to a harmonious coexistence with all ecosystems and to continue collaborating with those dedicated to healing and sustaining our planet.
