Youth Camp

Join us as we delve into the world, contemplating meaningful responses to our global crisis while researching methods to build trust among us, using creative ways to express our ideas, passion, and joy for a future we can believe in.

Overview

We invite young people aged 14 to 17 to join us for 10 days at our annual Youth Camp. It’s a full-on community experience at our Children’s Place, accompanied by our team of youth facilitators.

During the camp, you will have the chance to get to know Tamera and explore some of its core principles that continue to shape us today. We aim to create a space where trust can flourish, setting the foundation for meaningful experiences throughout the camp.

Program details

The camp begins with a few days of activities to help us get to know each other. After that, we will dive into the following topics:

  • Living in community as an antidote to separation – What holds a community together for many years, and how is this relevant for our future?
  • Trust as a base for a new culture – Exploring the relationship between our inner worlds and the external world we create.
  • Freeing love from fear – Creating a safe space to talk about love and sexuality because we know there’s a strong interest in this topic.
  • “Water is Love” – Inspired by the movie, we will explore water and climate restoration measures.

We will also learn from the work of inspiring peace workers and activists from around the world, as well as from Tamera’s own peace and community knowledge.

The Youth Camp offers an intense community experience with opportunities for sharing, listening, and reflecting with one another as human beings. We will use Forum—a core social practice in our project—sharing circles and a variety of creative formats to build trust and explore who we are, our highest potential, and what matters most to us in today’s world.

At the end of the camp, we will host an evening presentation to share our discoveries with a wider audience in Tamera.

Please Note: This is a time for detoxing from various distractions, especially phones, drugs, and alcohol –  to strengthen our connection with ourselves and the world around us.

If you want a glimpse of what to expect at the camp, please check out our previous camps.
