Hands-On Preparation Week at Our Campus: Get Ready for the Season with Us!
We invite you to join our campus and youth teams for 8 days of preparing our education center for the start of our season. We will use this time to explore principles of community and trust building while we enjoy the wonderful Alentejo springtime.
Overview
We are excited to start our season with a group of young people, to work together and to use this time to get to know each other in different ways.
In the mornings we’ll do practical work including:
- cleaning and preparing facilities from kitchen to dormitories, that rested during the winter
- renovating parts of our infrastructure
- preparing meals for our group and learning about vegan cooking
- gardening and landscaping work around our buildings
- painting and beautifying the site
- attending to the many details that make a place functional, beautiful and welcoming
In the afternoons we’ll come together for group activities including trust-building exercises and introductions to Tamera’s principles. You’ll participate in sharing circles and Forums – core social practices in our project – and hear inspiring talks about our work and values. There will be space for spontaneous, emergent experiences too as we journey together.
Springtime in this region calls us to enjoy nature so we’ll also take time for a short hike and a weekend visit to the ocean.
Who is the preparation time for?
- Young people aged between 18 – 30
- People interested in community-building
- People who enjoy and are physically able to clean, repair and maintain things or to work in our garden.
Our guest center is part of our emerging Healing Biotope, where we work to reconnect with and restore life’s wholeness. Though courses focus on specific topics, our research is woven into a larger, interconnected framework and it’s likely that your learning will expand into new areas.
You can join our morning practices which include activities like Yoga and Qi Gong. You’ll also be able to participate in whole community events, such as our Sunday matinee, the Ring of Power and Political Cafes.
During this hands-on preparation week you’ll not only engage in physical tasks but will also build connections with young people from diverse backgrounds and experience life in community.
