Community Course

Special Invitation for LGBTQ+

The Tamera community invites the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and nonbinary community, as well as cisgender and heterosexual allies for a safe and inspiring space of learning from more than 40 years of experience in community building. This program gives space to celebrate our diversity together in a supportive and unique environment, and to research together how community can be a political decision for cooperation with all that lives, beyond suppression and exploitation.

“Queerness is that thing that lets us feel that this world is not enough – the rejection of a here and now and an insistence on potentiality or concrete possibility for another world”.

José Esteban Muñoz

This 3-week course will guide you through the essential learnings of community based on the Healing Biotopes Plan. You’ll study and experience how a group based on truth, transparency and trust can develop. We invite you to join the journey as a peace worker by understanding and practicing the foundational ethics of community.

Program Details

Join fellow students from different countries, united by the decision to walk the path of education to become peace workers. During these 3 weeks of intensive learning we’ll study the connection between inner work and the political power that comes from it. Through connecting with each other, we hold a powerful key for transformation. A group that finds ways to transform fear, mistrust and jealousy can be an acupuncture point for peace.

In this time you’ll get a sense of what the shift from a private to a communitarian way of life means. We aim to study, live and work in a way that you’ll have the chance to experience a kind of trust you might not yet believe is possible. Be ready to let go of old habits and see yourself as the training ground of the transformation you want to see in the world.

The program will be composed of:

  • Interactive presentations and Q&A sessions with members of the community
  • regular forum work
  • the work of council and heart circles
  • spiritual exercises
  • theatre and artistic experiential spaces
  • Love School
  • karma yoga and hands-on service
  • participating in events for the whole community, e.g. our Sunday matinee, the Ring of Power and cultural events.

The Team

B. (they/them), Uri Ayalon (he/him), Aya Pinner (they/them) and Dara Silverman (she/her)

We’re in truly joyful anticipation to host and guide you through this course. Tamera’s initial research focus was on love, sexuality & relationships between cisgender men and women, and we’re part of a group of people enlarging the spectrum of that research. We’ve been working together for years to support queering Tamera in various respects and through who we are in the community.
We have been living in Tamera between 6-15 years and hold different passions and responsibilities within the community.
We’re looking forward to go on this radical journey of learning community and celebrating our queerness together with you!
